Egyptian Bedouin Antique Dagger Khanjar
Egyptian Bedouin Antique Dagger Khanjar
Khanjar, a dagger made in Sinai by the bedouin silversmiths of Egypt. 100% handmade and antique collectable made in the 1920's. Influenced with styles from all over the Middle East mainly Yemen and Oman. Made of high-grade silver intricatley designed to represent the history and culture of the regional tribes presenting these accessories.
The dagger's is enterily made of silver, two domed silver caps adorning each end of the hilt's pommel. Between these caps is a stylised rosette with a stud at its center – a form repeated at the other flared end of the hilt. The scabbard is made of silver with the back side secured with a leather casing. A diagonal band bisects the frontal face of the scabbard approximately halfway along its length and attached at each of its short edges with three eyelets for fitting the dagger to a belt. The main section of the scabbard (excluding the diagonal band) is further enhanced by borders at each edge of intricate geometric openwork. The prominent chape adds a traditional touch engraved with line detailing and a horizontal bend all around ending with a pointed tip surrounded by circular silver orbs.
Due to old age, this dagger's blade has significant rusting. Although it can be reversed with professional shining and cleaning, it is preferred to maintain the piece in its current state to preserve its making in appreciation of the craftmanship of its time. Handcrafted by skilled artisans, this item may feature imperfections. These imperfections are not indicative of damage or faulty craftsmanship but rather contribute to the inherent beauty of being handcrafted rather than mass-produced in a factory setting.
