This beautiful tribal vintage necklace is special to the Afghan culture, specifically to the Kuchi ‘nomad’ people. Kuchis are Pashtuns from southern and eastern Afghanistan.
Made of high-grade silver with each side of the prayer box embellished with green studs and enamored with silver orbs and curled accents. Five ornate charm-dangles hang below; the clattering sounds from the movement of these dangles were intended to alert admirers and scare away negative forces.
The chain is closed goes over the head to wear. The lid of the prayer box, also designed with the same design of the body, has a chain attached to the necklace chain and can be closed and opened with ease.
